LED Retrofit with GLT LED TUBE at Lidl Sweden Distribution Center in Rosersberg

The Challenge

The existing lighting system in the Rosersberg warehouse consisted of more than 3,000 conventional T5 and T8 fluorescent tubes. These caused high energy costs, required frequent maintenance, and no longer met the efficiency and light quality standards of a modern logistics center with cooling and deep-freeze zones. The goal was to find an energy-efficient, durable, and IFS-compliant lighting solution that could be implemented without interrupting operations.

The Solution – LED Retrofit with GLT TUBE High Performance

A total of 3,344 T5 and T8 fluorescent tubes were replaced during ongoing operations using the 1:1 retrofit method in accordance with IEC/EN 62776, upgrading to GLT LED TUBES High Performance. This model, with a luminous flux of up to 6,000 lumens, is specifically designed for high-ceiling industrial halls and demanding logistics environments.

The existing luminaires were converted according to EN standards, and the old ballasts were removed. The LED driver is fully integrated within the GLT LED TUBE, allowing staff without electrical expertise to easily replace the light source. Maintenance costs are reduced to a minimum, while operational safety and efficiency are significantly increased.

The new LED lighting system meets all of Lidl’s energy efficiency and sustainability requirements. Thanks to the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) of the GLT TUBE, all environmental impacts of the lighting can be transparently recorded and documented.
