LED light as a service at DS Smith Packaging in Germany and Switzerland

The Challenge

The existing T5 and T8 fluorescent tubes in production and office areas caused high energy costs, increasing maintenance requirements and tied up significant internal resources. At the same time, the lighting needed to be modernised across multiple sites – without production downtime, without major capital expenditure and with clearly calculable costs.

The Solution – GLT Light as a Service and LED Retrofit with the GLT LED TUBE

DS Smith Packaging opted for the Light as a Service model with German LED Tech. Since 2018, existing luminaires at 17 sites have been retrofitted 1:1 with GLT LED TUBES.

Implementation was carried out step by step in both production and office areas, each time during ongoing operations. German LED Tech took responsibility for the supply, retrofit and operation of the lighting system – while DS Smith benefited immediately from energy savings, maintenance-free technology and full cost transparency.
